The society of Kalambaka is shocked by the fire that broke out on Monday morning in the Aeolic Star Hotel, which is located in the center of the city and resulted in the loss of the life of the owner of the hotel.
The fire broke out in the morning hours catching most of the hotel’s occupants literally asleep.
The EL.AS investigation is now looking the causes of the fire with information indicating that it was likely caused by the air conditioning and heating system after a short circuit. An eyewitness reports that at first a loud noise was heard and then smoke started coming out.
The 55-year-old owner of the Aeolic Star Hotel seems to have gone to get out of the balcony of the first floor of the accommodation, as he was trapped in the hotel’s living room, but he jumped, as a result of which he was injured and then ended up.
According to the Fire Department, 26 people were freed from the hotel, of which eight were minors. As the director of the hospital, Costas Grigoriou, said speaking on the SKAI show, “Mismatched”, 10 people were admitted to the Trikala General Hospital with respiratory problems, of which 4 are children.
On the spot, 26 firefighters with 8 vehicles tried, while a special ladder truck was also mobilized for rescues.
