PARIS (Reuters)-The Commercial Court of Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine) gave its green light on Friday to the resumption of the Brittany foundry, former Renault site, by the manufacturer of Europlasma shell corps, announced the Brittany foundry.
“This recovery, effective from May 1, will save 266 jobs and relaunch industrial activity on the site,” she said in a statement.
Heiress of the Historical Forges of Hennebont created in 1966, the foundry of Brittany today employs 285 people on permanent contracts. In receivership since the beginning of the year, it has suffered from the transition to electric vehicles, which have less cast iron than thermal vehicles, as well as foreign competition and late diversification.
The resumption by Europlasma will be accompanied “with a rapid production of hollow bodies for the manufacture of mortar shells”, specifies the press release. On the social level, “the impact is minimal and controlled, with the maintenance of more than 90% of the positions and opportunities for 29 accompanied departures which will be carried out on the basis of volunteering”, he adds.
