Doha (Reuters) – The Qatar Airways national company signed an agreement for the purchase of 160 planes to the American manufacturer Boeing during the trip of President Donald Trump on Wednesday in the Emirate.
According to the American president, who participated in the signature ceremony with the Emir of Qatar, this agreement represents an amount of $ 200 billion (178 billion euros).
Boeing no longer publishes a catalog price, but on the basis of the last value published for his most expensive plane, the 777X, a contract on 160 long -range devices would represent some $ 70 billion.
Analysts in the aviation sector point out that airlines generally obtain significant discounts when they buy large quantities.
Donald Trump, who performs a diplomatic tour in the Gulf, said that the director general of Boeing, Kelly Ortberg, signatory of the agreement with the Director General of Qatar Airways, Badr Mohammed Al Meer, assured that it was the biggest order of reaction planes in the history of Boeing.
Donald Trump built: “It’s more than $ 200 billion, but 160 in terms of devices, it’s fantastic! It is a record, Kelly, and congratulations to Boeing. Produce these planes, produce them!”.
We do not know exactly what models of Boeing aircraft are targeted by this agreement or if Qatar orders are firm commands or if they are options.
