Brussels (Reuters) – The European Commission opened on Wednesday an investigation to determine whether anti -dumping measures are necessary on imports of tires for private cars and light trucks from China, following a complaint filed by the European Union tire industry (EU).
“If the survey confirms that the European tire industry undergoes or risks suffering from importance due to imports subject to dumping from China, the Commission may impose anti -dumping rights on imports if they are judged in the interest of the European Union,” the Commission said in a statement.
“The investigation must be concluded within 14 months from its opening. Provisional anti -dumping measures can be put in place within eight months if the resulting dumping and damage are temporarily established,” added the Commission.
The EU already applies anti -dumping and anti -Bvents measures to imports of bus tires and trucks from China.
The European Tires for Tires for Pins and Light Trucks represented more than 18 billion euros in 2024.
