(BFM Stock Exchange) – The Parisian index returned to 1.21% at 7,979.08 points this Tuesday, August 19, while market operators continue to monitor the evolution of discussions around Ukraine. In China, the Prime Minister called for more actions to support investment and consumption.

After breathing on Monday (-0.5%), the CAC 40 left before this Tuesday, August 19. The Parisian index took 1.21%, getting closer to 8,000 points, at 7,979.08 points.

Market operators have continued to monitor the evolution of the situation around Ukraine.

At the end of his interview with European leaders and with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, US President Donald Trump decided to organize a tripartite meeting (United States, Russia, Ukraine). “Zelensky said he was ready for these discussions, but the Kremlin has not yet undertaken to organize such a meeting,” notes Deutsche Bank.

“There is a relief to note that discussions between Trump, Zelensky and European leaders seem to have progressed well. The American president has been very optimistic about the granting of security and protection guarantees to Europe, which has strengthened the hope of sustainable settlement,” said Susannah Streeter of Hargreaves Lansdown.

Defense in hard, spirits at the party

Otherwise, the regain of appetite for the risk brought the vast majority of the Parisian coast. The groups of spirits, exposed in particular to China, behaved well. Rémy Cointreau took 4.3% and Pernod Ricard gained 3.4%.

CAPGEMINI (+3.4%), Publicis (+3.2%), Renault (+3.2%) and Stellantis (+3.2%) complete the CAC 40. 35 Palmère of the 40 index values finished in the green.

In the other markets, the euro is almost stable against the dollar at 1.1667 dollars. Oil is retreating. The October Brent of the North Brent contract gives up 0.7% to $ 66.12 per barrel while the one on the WTI listed in New York loses $ 62.77 per barrel.
