(BFM Stock Exchange) – The Parisian star index narrowly closes in green this Friday, September 12, before the decision of the Fitch agency on the note of the French debt. Edenred and Pluxee end the day in sharp decline, threatened by a tax on the benefits of employees.
The Paris Stock Exchange managed to make a full box over a week, however marked by the fall of the Bayrou government. On the wire, the CAC 40 closed in the green this Friday, September 12, eating 0.02% at 7,825.24 points.
The Parisian index therefore gains 1.96% over the whole of this perfect week, the best since that of August 10 (+2.33%). The markets have indeed been worn in recent days by rate drops in the United States. These expectations have been reinforced by a series of statistics showing a slowdown in the American job market. The acceleration of production prices in August, did not question this scenario since it was in line with the expectations of the market.
“This report on prices shows once again that the customs duties have for the moment had only a very limited effect on American inflation. The great caution displayed by Jerome Powell this year on the subject now seems overwhelmed by the degradation of the labor market, which is very clear. The Fed will therefore be able to resume its calm rate cycle”, said Bastian Drut, responsible for strategy and economic studies at CPram in response to statistics.
Investors are more than convinced that the Fed will reduce its 25 basis points (0.25 percentage points) at its meeting on September 17. According to the CME Group’s Fedwatch tool, they attribute a probability of 92.5% to this scenario and 7.5% for a drop of 50 base points.
The markets also resume their breathing before the revision of the French debt note by the Fitch agency this Friday evening.
