San Francisco (Reuters) – AMD declared on Monday that it will provide artificial intelligence fleas (AI) to Openai as part of a multi -year agreement, an operation that would bring in tens of billions of dollars in annual income and would give the startup at the origin of Chatgpt the possibility of buying up to around 10% from the American semiconductor manufacturer.

The agreement offers OPENAI the opportunity to take a participation in one of the most formidable rivals of Nvidia and constitutes a powerful support for the chips and software of IA of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).

“We consider this agreement as a certainly transformer, not only for AMD, but also for the dynamics of the industry,” said Forrest Norrod, executive vice-president of AMD, in Reuters on Sunday.

The agreement relates to the deployment of hundreds of thousands of AMD ia chips, or graphic processing units (GPU), equivalent to six gigawatts, over several years from the second half of 2026.

AMD said that Optai would build an installation of a Gigawatt based on its next series of MI450 fleas from next year, and that it would start to count income at that time.

AMD leaders expect the agreement to result in tens of billions of dollars in annual revenue. Due to the training effect of the agreement, AMD expects to receive more than $ 100 billion in new revenues over four years from Openai and other customers, they said.

“Others will follow, because it is really a pioneer, a pioneer of industry who has a lot of influence on the ecosystem in the broad sense,” said Mat Hein, head of AMD’s strategy.

The agreement will also make it possible to build an infrastructure of AI sufficient to meet his needs, said the director general of Openai, Sam Altman, in a press release.

Analysts believe on average that AMD will generate a turnover of $ 32.78 billion (28.09 billion euros) this year, according to LSEG data.

As part of this agreement, AMD issued a subscription voucher which allows OPENAI to buy up to 160 million AMD shares at a price of 1 hundred each during the duration of the chip agreement. The subscription voucher is acquired by slices, depending on the stages agreed between the two companies.

The first tranche will be acquired after the first delivery of MI450 chips provided for the second half of 2026. The other steps include specific AMD action course objectives which increase up to 600 dollars per share for the last section of shares to be unlocked.

AMD has 1.62 billion shares in circulation and is estimated at $ 267.23 billion, according to LSEG data. His actions closed on Friday at 164.67 dollars.

OPENAI is estimated at $ 500 billion.

Openai has been collaborating with AMD for years, making its contribution to the design of old generations of IA fleas such as MI300X.
