Music teacher at the Municipal Conservatory of Katerini sentenced to 3 years and 4 months imprisonment, as judged guilty of misconduct at the expense of his 10-year-old student.
The Mixed Jury Court of Appeal of Thessaloniki suspended the sentence for 3 yearsunder the conditions of its monitoring by a social curator, of appearing once a month at a police stationas well as the prohibition of any form of communication with the minor, but also his approach at a distance of 100 meters.
The court, which examined the case in the second instance, recognized the 55-year-old defendant the mitigating factors of the former lawful life and the subsequent good conduct. His first mitigation was already recognized by the court of first instance, when he was sentenced to 4 years in prison.
The case went to court in 2015 following a complaint by the minor’s mother. In his apology, the accused denied the accusation against him, attributing – among other things – the complaint to the suspicion of the mother.
After his involvement in the case, he was remanded in custody and on holiday.
