The Athens Golden Cup 2022 started today in Syntagma Square.

It will last 4 days and will be completed on June 5.
The premiere took place today with the matches for the women’s quarterfinal phase.
The event will offer a high competitive spectacle with the participation of leading Greek teams of men and women, as well as invited teams from abroad.
It will also include social responsibility activities, audience fights and lessons from well-known beach volley aces to young friends of the sport through the “Learn Beach Volley” program.
The Athens Golden Cup tournament is the first of the top four tournaments for the Beach Volleyball Championship 2022, with the next stop in Thessaloniki (Thessaloniki Grand Slam, Aristotelous Square June 16-19), Xanthi (Xanthi Masters, Xanthi Central Square 15-17 July), Agios Nikolaos (Agios Nikolaos Finals, Marina Agios Nikolaos July 29-31).
The Panhellenic Beach Volleyball Championship is relatively young, having officially started in 1994 (it was established as an Olympic sport in 1992 at the Barcelona Olympics), and it is the 2nd time, after 2010, that an official tournament is organized in the most emblematic Greek square , Syntagma Square.
