The map contributes significantly to informing and raising public awareness to prevent the start of negligent forest fires
Small is the risk of fire outbreak for tomorrow Sunday according to the daily forecast map issued by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection.
The Charter is issued daily and is valid for the day following its issuance. It is an integral part of forest firefighting planning, effectively contributing to the preventive organization, better coordination and preparedness of the bodies involved in the joint management of forest fires, according to the General Plan of Civil Protection codenamed “IOLOS”.
The main purpose of publishing the Charter is to inform the bodies involved in the management of forest fires for the areas where in the next 24 hours the risk of occurrence and spread of forest fires is high, in order to be in a state of civil protection readiness and to deal immediately and jointly any start-ups of forest fires. It also contributes significantly to informing and raising public awareness to prevent the start of forest fires through negligence.
The team for the issuance of the Daily Fire Risk Forecast Map of the GGP consists of scientists with special knowledge and many years of experience in the field (Foresters and Meteorologist).
The Charter envisages five categories of risk:
1. Green – Low
2. Blue – Waist
3. Yellow – High
4. Orange – Very high
5. Red – ALARM Status
