Recently, 787 people were arrested for robberies, thefts, illegal immigration and other crimes, while 1,825 people were arrested and 44 stolen vehicles were found in the center of Athens and West Attica, as part of the special actions carried out on a daily basis by ELAS for tackling crime, according to an announcement by the ELAS Headquarters.
Specifically, regarding the wider area of ​​the center of Athens, a special grid of actions is implemented with the participation of police officers of the Athens Police Directorate, the Attica Foreigners Directorate and the Sub-Directorates for Drug Prosecution and Special Operational Actions (OPKE – DRASI).
During these actions, from May 25 to June 3, 422 people were arrested for various crimes (robberies, thefts, illegal immigration, violations of the laws on weapons and drugs, etc.) while 686 people were arrested.
In the last month alone (May 1 to June 2), the Drug Prosecution Sub-Directorate has arrested 32 people for drug law violations.
At the same time, between May 25 and June 5, in the wider area of ​​West Attica, 112 people were arrested for various offenses (thefts, violations of drug laws, etc.), 779 people were arrested and a stolen vehicle was found.
In addition, the operational actions of the police officers of the West Attica Police Directorate are assisted by police forces of the Attica Immediate Action Directorate, which are active in the specific areas. In this context, from May 25 to June 3, they carried out a total of:
– 253 arrests for various offenses (robberies, thefts, violations of arms and drugs laws, etc.),
360 leads and
– 43 finds of stolen vehicles.
At the level of public security, the specialized staff of the Security Sub-Directorates of Athens and West Attica managed to investigate a total of 187 cases for robberies, theft-burglary, theft of wheeled vehicles and for violations of drug law. A total of 191 perpetrators were identified in these cases.
