Ministry of Education: Beneficiary students are being expanded – Which areas are concerned

It is facilitated and consolidated the granting of housing allowance to students and trainees of public IEKwith legislative regulations of the Ministry of Education and Religions that were submitted to the Parliament and are being discussed today in the Plenary Session.

Specifically:

1) Beneficiaries are expanding of the housing allowance of undergraduate students of the Democritus University of Thrace, the University of the Aegean and the University of Western Macedonia. It is recalled that with legislation of 2021, more favorable conditions were granted for the granting of the allowance to the students of these three Universities. The current regulation provided for the granting of the allowance only to undergraduate students who were admitted during the academic year 2021-2022, while now acquires a permanent character and also applies to students who are admitted from now on.

2) It is stipulated that the urban complex of Thessalonikithe extent of which is taken into account in the context of the conditions for granting the housing allowance for undergraduate students, includes areas less than 20 km from the center of Thessaloniki. Thus, students who study in the complexes of Sindos and Thermi can with the new regulations receive a housing allowance even if the municipality of the school is different from the municipality of the rented residence.
