The head of the Special Secretariat for the Protection of Pets is Ms. Marianthi Dimopoulou
The protection of pets, ensuring their well-being and achieving the goal: no abused animals, no stray animals, is the purpose of the establishment, by decision of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Special Secretariat on this subject, at the Ministry of Interior.
Specifically the Special Secretariat for Pet Protection aims to monitor and strict implementation of the regulatory framework, created by Law 4830/2021 for the protection of pets and ensuring their well-being, as well as the management of stray pets, in strict compliance with the rules of well-being. Also, the purpose is to set up a control mechanism and to cooperate with the co-competent bodies, with the aim: no abused animals, no stray animals.
Head of the Special Secretariat is Marianthi Dimopoulou
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Press Office, Ms. Marianthi Dimopoulou, a lawyer with scientific expertise and long experience in animal law, will head the Special Secretariat for the Protection of Pets.
Marianthi Dimopoulou is a lawyer specializing in Animal Law, an activist for their rights and a teacher in the course “Legal (II)” of Zero Stray Academy.
Collaborates with animal welfare associations and organizations across the country as well as with municipalities consulting on stray animal management. He is an Auditor / Lead Auditor, with knowledge in Trading and with a postgraduate degree in Human Resources Management (Human Resources). Participates in the Interdepartmental Program of Postgraduate Studies of the Kapodistrian University of Athens “Animals: Ethics, Law, Prosperity”.
