According to an announcement by the Hellenic Police, the perpetrators, in their attempt to deceive our fellow citizens – internet users, are now using the details of the Chief of the Hellenic Police, in a letter bearing the logos of the Ministry of Citizen Protection.

Efforts are being made to deceive unsuspecting citizens by using the data of officials of the Ministry of Citizen Protection and the Greek Police.

According to an announcement by the Hellenic Police, the perpetrators, in their attempt to deceive our fellow citizens – internet users, are also using the data of the Chief of the Hellenic Police, Lieutenant General Konstantinos Skoumas, in a letter bearing the logos of the Ministry of Civil Protection, the Greek Police and Europol, signature with a round stamp and other data (eg email) that create the impression that it comes from the Greek Police.

The specific letter is circulated via email in which the sender is “ALANIS COELHO SOUZA” with the alleged title “HEAD OF SYSTEMS AND IDENTIFICATION” from the “FEDERAL POLICE”.

In fact, compared to older fraudulent letters, there is an attempt to give more and more truth to the pretext that their recipient is under investigation for alleged pornography and other crimes.

For this purpose, they use the real logos and the name of the Law Enforcement Authorities, an imprint of a round stamp with the supposed signature of the Chief of the Hellenic Police, while the relevant text has few to no spelling or syntax errors.

In this context, it is announced that the following text – message circulated via e-mail (email), as an alleged letter of the Chief of Hellenic Police, Lieutenant General Konstantinos Skoumas, bearing his name, signature and stamp with the inscription “Hellenic Republic” – Hellenic Police “is obviously false and deceptive.

This message as well as others like it are sent by perpetrators who are obviously trying to deceive – mislead the citizens and then gain illegal financial benefit.

Citizens are asked not to respond and delete this or other similar messages as well as “do not open” the attachments to avoid malware.

It is recalled that, in the last period of time, a systematic attempt has been made to deceive with similar texts – messages using the data of an official of the Ministry of Civil Protection (related to the 11-04-2022, 27-04-2022, 21-05-2022 Bulletins Press).
