Golden Dawn Trial: Nikos Michaloliakos’s side requested a postponement

His side submitted a request for its postponement at the beginning of the trial Nikos Michaloliakou in the appellate court where the case is being heard, Golden Dawn court.

The once powerful party leader is not present at the trial. The defense attorney D. Papadellis reported that Nikos Michaloliakos is absent for health reasons, as he had been hospitalized with coronavirus for two months in the intensive care unit and is now in a rehabilitation center.

“Theoretically, he was summoned by the court, while he was in the ICU and he had loss of consciousness, visual and auditory hallucinations. He does not even have the decision, he does not know why he is being tried! ” said the defense attorney.

Ioannis Lagos is the only ATHEX politician still active, as he is in European Parliament with a process of suspension while serving his sentence.

Of the 56 defendants, one has died and one has dropped the appeal.

Thus, the total number of defendants to be tried in the second instance is 54 with 50 being tried again for criminal organization. Only 16 gave the “present” in the courtroom. 5 defendants did not have a lawyer and some of them asked the court to appoint them a lawyer.

The president of the court then read the list of witnesses, which reaches 146.

The first prosecution witnesses are the parents of Pavlos Fyssas, Panagiotis and Magda, who will testify in support of the accusation.
