It is noted that The decision to remove the title of honorary doctor from Vladimir Putin was made last April by the University of the Peloponnese. His title was awarded in 2018 “for his contribution to letters, arts, society and democracy”.

At today’s CIVIS Alliance Rectors’ Online Meeting, among the topics discussed was Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine. Many universities in Ukraine have almost been destroyed or are trying to operate.

In this context, “in order to accelerate the process of restructuring and synchronization of the levels of operation of higher education between Ukraine and the EU”, EKPA proposes “twinning between Ukrainian universities (or a group of Ukrainian universities) and cooperation with European Universities who can be the coordinator and catalyst for such collaborations “.

The purpose of such twinning will be “to give access to Ukrainian universities to teachers and to research joint resources of alliances and networks and to develop new multilateral cooperation and joint programs,” the statement said.
