Second decrease in just 24 hours – Big increase in prices – Daily production will decrease on Thursday from 100 million cubic meters per day to 67 million – It was preceded on Tuesday by a first decrease, from 167 million cubic meters to 100 million.

Russian giant Gazprom announced today that it will further reduce gas supplies to Europe by a third via the Nord Stream pipeline because it had to shut down equipment of the German company Siemens.

“Gazprom is shutting down another Siemens turbine at the Portovaya compressor station.” As a result, daily production will be reduced on Thursday from 100 million cubic meters per day to 67 million. It was preceded on Tuesday by a first reduction, from 167 million cubic meters to 100 million.

At around 15.00 (Berlin time), the flow through the Nord Stream pipeline remained unchanged at 44.9 million kilowatt hours per hour, compared to an hour earlier.

The German energy regulator said it was currently monitoring the situation and considers the potential impact that a further reduction in supply would have.

“Security of supply is still guaranteed,” said a spokesman for the agency.

Big increase in prices

Gazprom’s new shock in just 24 hours provoked negative reactions in the markets, with the price of natural gas “climbing” to 118 euros, recording an increase of 22%, while earlier it had exceeded 121 euros.
