Do you like cats? SP has two new feline ballads, Meow and Kat Klub

by

Images of cute cats have invaded the night of São Paulo. Two new clubs in the capital have been abusing cats and cats on the walls, in the bathroom, everywhere: Kat Klub, on Rua Augusta, and Meow, in Pinheiros.

The two nightclubs opened their doors a few months ago —Kat Klub opened in May, while Meow began to receive people in February—, betting on the pet’s fans and that the photos taken at the venues would go viral on social media.

The most recent club, Kat Klub, is located in the same space as Beco, a nightclub that was closed during the most critical period of the pandemic, in 2020. With a capacity for 450 people, the space is full of areas with neon lights in shape of cats, drawings of felines everywhere and even a sculpture of the feline head hanging over a sofa.

In the speakers, pop and funk music are the main rhythms of the dancefloor, but there are also parties with electronic music in the setlist.

But cats aren’t just for decoration. It is not uncommon to see more excited people dressed in kitty accessories, such as tiaras, little ears, makeup and, why not, even the complete look.

Drinks are also themed. Angorá, a species of the animal, is made with cachaça, cocoa liqueur and orange juice, at a price of R$ 32. Tickets for the club cost R$ 20 or R$ 40 with consumption.

About five kilometers away is Meow. Although the cats repeat themselves, the atmosphere in the club is different: the feeling is of being in an old house, with a living room, sofa and backyard, with capacity for 400 people.

In the decoration, there are more than 20 paintings with cats dressed in the clothes of emperors and puffers of the time that are attached to the walls. The images become instagrammable spaces, with lines to take pictures near the most popular cats.

The dancefloor, which is close to the entrance, plays hip hop and features well-known DJs such as KL Jay, from the group Racionais MCs, and the graffiti artist duo Osgêmeos, who appear from time to time commanding the pickup trucks and also enjoy the party on their days off. .

The success on Instagram makes it common to see other famous people there, such as countryman Lucas Lucco, rapper Karol Conká and singer Luísa Sonza, for example.

“We prioritize having our audience, forming our crowd. Anyone who goes to Meow knows who they will meet there. If we always put different parties, it would always be a different crowd attending the house, which we don’t want”, says Raoni Lucarini, one of the partners. of space.

The entrance to the house has prices that vary. On Thursdays, it costs R$30. On Fridays and Saturdays, the price is between R$50 and R$60. Drinks such as gin and tonic cost R$35.

This Friday (17th), DJs Lia Macedo, playing Brazilian music, and Chade and Tatui, with setlists filled with hip hop, appear on the schedule. On Saturday (18), it’s time for DJ Mary Jane’s house, Maestro’s rap and Cinara’s hip hop.
