Video for today’s International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women is shown until 11.30 pm on the facade of the Governor’s Office, which houses the Macedonia and Thrace sector of the Ministry of Interior, in Thessaloniki.
The video concludes with the message “Time to end the cycle of violence. Talk to us now ”and with the SOS hotline for victims of violence 15900.
“November 25th – World Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women – will find justification when it is practically celebrated by all, 365 days a year”, said the Deputy Minister of Interior, responsible for Macedonia-Thrace Stavros Kalafatis.
“So let’s do something more. We support the #metoo movement. We are breaking the cycle of violence. “We encourage victims to speak out.” As he pointed out, the State has a secure and permanent network of structures for the prevention and treatment of violence against women:
-The 43 counseling centers, with specialized scientific staff.
-The 19 hostels hosting abused women.
-The telephone line SOS 15900, nationwide, 24 hour operation.
“We are here for these women,” concluded Mr. Kalafatis.
