Case of attempted illegal adoption of an infant a few days ago, was searched in Thessaloniki. For the case four people were arrested and two more were identified.
According to the police investigation, The couple, aged 49 and 47, turned to a 61-year-old lawyer in order to mediate to adopt a child without following the prescribed procedures. In this context, they agreed to adopt a child who gave birth to a 38-year-old woman on June 12 in a city hospital, accompanied by her 37-year-old partner. for the amount of 17,000-19,000 euros. As it was found out, until yesterday the couple had paid a sum of 1,435 euros for childbirth-hospital expenses and expenses of the mediators.
The immediate actions of police officers of the Department for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings of the Thessaloniki Security Directorate investigated the case, while it also emerged that the lawyer together with a 58-year-old wanted foreigner, were organized in order to mediate illegally in the adoption of the child, while their participation in other cases of mediation is being investigated. In fact, a case has been filed against the 58-year-old in the past for similar offenses. The arrested will be taken to the competent Prosecutor.
