A boat with 56 migrants ran aground in a creek in Rhodes

A sailing boat with 16 minors, 12 women and 28 men ran aground in a creek southwest of the island. The migrants, who are in good health, were transferred to the Central Port Authority of Rhodes.

A sailing boat with 56 migrants (16 minors, 12 women and 28 men) ran aground this afternoon under adverse weather conditions in a creek southwest of Rhodes.

The migrants got off the boat alone and remained on the shore.

An Offshore Ship, a Coast Guard patrol boat and two Coast Guard patrol vehicles and a VAN of the Rhodes Police Department operated in this sea area.

The migrants, who are in good health, were transferred to the Central Port Authority of Rhodes.

In the meantime, the investigations to locate any missing immigrants who allegedly boarded together with the 108 immigrants (21 children, 24 women and 63 men) in an unmanned sailing boat southwest of Delos remain fruitless.

The migrants were rescued after an extensive operation by the port corps, while according to the statements of the rescued, four more people are reported missing.

Three port patrol boats, floating ships and a tug boat from Mykonos took part in the rescue operation.
