The General Secretariat for Civil Protection advises citizens to be especially careful and to avoid actions in the countryside that can cause a fire due to negligence, such as burning dry grass and branches or cleaning debris.
Very high risk of fire (risk category 4) is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday 21 June, for the region South Aegean(PE Rhodes), according to Fire Risk Forecast Map issued by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection.
For this reason the GGP purges citizens to be especially careful and to avoid actions in the countryside which can cause a fire due to negligence, such as burning dry grass and branches or cleaning debris, the use of machines that cause sparks such as circular saws, welding machines, the use of outdoor grills, bee smoking, throwing lit cigarettes, etc. It is also recalled that during the fire season the burning of fields is prohibited. The GGP also calls on citizens in case of fire, to immediately notify the Fire Department at the call number 199.
At the same time, the General Secretariat for Civil Protection (www.civilprotection.gr) has informed the competent state services involved, as well as the Regions and the Municipalities of the above areas, in order to be on increased civil protection in order to deal immediately with any incidents of fire.
