Sea level rise caused by climate change is a problem for all coastal regions of the planet — including Brazil.
But in some parts of the planet, the threat is even more frightening: there are cities and entire countries that could disappear with the advance of the waters. They are island nations like Tuvalu. The Philippine capital, Manila, could sink in 30 years if the world doesn’t reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
At Breakfast this Friday (26), reporter Jessica Maes, who attended COP26, the UN climate conference, spoke with activists Mitzi Jonelle Tan and Bernard Ewekia; scientist Paulo Artaxo, professor at the USP Physics Institute and member of the IPCC (UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change); environmental lawyer Caroline Prolo; and Elissa Lalande, one of the Seychelles government representatives at the COP.
