Hyundai set a sales record in Europe. The company recorded a total of 43,629 vehicle registrations in the European Union, EFTA (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland) and the United Kingdom in October, up 11% from the same month in 2020, reversing the overall market trend. of -29.3%. Between January and October, Hyundai recorded 427,015 units, up 22.7% from last year, compared with 2.7% for the industry as a whole.
Hyundai for the first time managed to lead the Spanish market in October, with 5,844 units, giving the company the opportunity to achieve a market share of 9.9%, the highest to date in Spain. These results represent an increase of 57.4% compared to the same month of 2020. In total, Hyundai sold 42,534 units in Spain between January and October 2021, gaining a market share of 6.4% and an increase of 29.4%, compared to 5.6% for the rest of the market. These results keep Hyundai in sixth place in Spain for the whole year and make the company the fastest growing brand in the Top 10.
After two very strong months in August and September, Hyundai increased its market share in Germany as well, reaching 4.5% in October with 8,096 registrations. In addition to outperforming the overall market trend, this result heralds the company’s best monthly result in October in Europe’s largest car market. The overall results are also positive for the car industry in Germany. Hyundai sold 87,869 vehicles from January to October, representing a 4.0% market share. This means an increase of 0.4% compared to the corresponding period last year.
