Beach Park announces new luxury resort in Ceará

by

The Beach Park group announced this Wednesday (22) the launch of Ohana Beach Park Resort, a new luxury resort, located next to the water park, in an investment of BRL 150 million. It is the largest investment in the history of the tourist complex, located on Porto das Dunas beach, in Aquiraz, neighboring Fortaleza (CE).

With 218 apartments and an area of 10,000 m², Ohana increases the accommodation capacity of Beach Park by 40%, which currently has four other resorts, with daily rates ranging from R$583 to R$3,580.

The works should start in September and the projection is that it will be opened in 2025. There will be four types of rooms, but the daily rate has not yet been disclosed. The most luxurious hotels will have a private jacuzzi and garden, which makes Ohana the highest standard hotel in the entire Beach Park network.

The new accommodations at Ohana Beach Park Resort were designed to simulate “a beach house in Ceará”, in an attempt to value the local culture. The coworking area, which does not currently exist, will be a differential to attract the post-pandemic tourist who works remotely.

The announcement comes amid a series of challenges faced by the park in recent years. In 2018, an accident killed a tourist on the Vainkará ride, which had opened just two days earlier and is no longer in operation.

The park was hit by the coronavirus pandemic and remained closed for nine months, adding breaks in 2020 and 2021, which represented a huge economic impact for the group. Beach Park receives around one million tourists a year.

In addition, Brazil has been facing a serious economic crisis for years, aggravated by the pandemic and the international scenario, which puts pressure on inflation and unemployment, two enemies of tourism.

None of this, however, seems to worry the company, which sees the scenario of resumption of activities in the sector with enthusiasm.

“We are going to invest because we believe that the leisure market will continue to grow, because of the behavioral transformation of people, boosted by the pandemic, of wanting to travel more”, says Murilo Pascoal, CEO of Beach Park, who claims to have sold on schedule for July of 2022.

Revenue in the first quarter of 2019 was BRL 81.8 million, while in the same period in 2022 it was BRL 102.4 million, despite a smaller audience.

This is possible, he says, thanks to higher per capita income, a reflection of previous investments, such as a village just outside the park that opened in 2015 with souvenir shops.

This, by the way, has been one of the main bets of the Beach Park to increase revenue: to make tourists spend more time in its facilities, whether in the consumption of the tents or in more daily at the water park.

The company believes that improvements in the municipality of Aquiraz would also be beneficial for it. Today, the place faces a series of problems, such as flooding on unpaved streets, which hinders movement and the arrival of visitors.

After the accident, Beach Park changed the way it received new equipment to increase safety.

The company has also invested in ESG (Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance).

One example is the Lixo Zero certification received last June 10 from the Lixo Zero Brasil Institute for the sustainable management of 95.2% of the waste generated during the park’s operation process.

In 2022, Beach Park received the ISO 14001 seal of good environmental practices for the second time. Murilo Pascoal points this out as a guarantee that the construction of the new enterprise will not cause environmental impacts in the region.

The journalist traveled at the invitation of Beach Park.
