by

Completed the new museum for the Fiat 500 in Turin, based in Rome, architectural firm LAB71 Architetti. Casa Fiat, is an exhibition space inside the Pinacoteca Agnelli with an area of 700 square meters and presents the history of the Fiat 500 and its links with the history and culture of Italy.

Casa Fiat was implemented with the mantra “Reuse, Reduce and Recycle”. “We also want to tell the plan about the possibility of a new ecological sensitivity, in which forms of nature and reclaimed materials are combined to bring new spaces to life, a new environment where the natural and the artificial merge in an unexpected balance,” said Massimiliano Gotti Porcin. Chief Architect of LAB71 Architetti (https://www.instagram.com/p/CWM4zJ7rSwL/).

The Casa 500 respects the interior as defined by its original designer, Giacomo Matté-Trucco, and the subsequent intervention by Renzo Piano. The architects kept the central space as empty as possible. In the center, a majestic installation in the shape of a large tree made of recovered wood around which the exhibition unfolds. On a pedestal that joins the installation depicting solid “roots”, the historic Fiat 500 model. The Nuova 500 is a new beginning. The “tree” represents what the Fiat 500 is: solid roots with branches spreading into the future. Beneath the branches, two large sofas, square and modular, invite visitors to relax as if on a meadow to be inspired by the world of the Fiat 500 and to shape, even in their thoughts, their own ambitions. “At the main Casa 500 facility, our goal was to tell the story of the ‘inspiration’ and ‘ambition’ that has always been present in the Fiat 500 world,” Porcinari said.

There are eight themes in the exhibition: “Heritage” allows visitors to immerse themselves in photos and videos that highlight the locations, people and stories behind the Fiat 500. “The Made of Italy” presents objects that over the years they caught the public eye thanks to their Italian design. In the “Poster Collection”, posters and promotional photos of the first Fiat 500 from the 1960s. »Presents the evolution of the car. “Relationship with Society” presents photos of Fiat 500 owners from around the world. “Predicting the Future” is a section in which the history of yesterday, today and tomorrow with a background of the Lingotto factory is reviewed.
