Today the speech of the prosecutor in the trial of Dimitris Lignadis

The prosecutor of the seat of the Mixed Jury Court who judges the former artistic director of the National Theater Dimitris Lignadiswill present his proposal today to the judges who will judge the artist for the four cases of rape by weight Three minor boys and of an adult male that burden him.

After four months of evidentiary proceedings o Prosecutor Konstantinos Kountrias, after evaluating the testimonies of the three complainants who testified about what they claim to have experienced, those who stood on the podium to confirm the plaintiffs and those who came to defend the actor, today he will address the three regular judges and the four jurors. The prosecutor will ask the judges to follow his thinking and adopt his proposal to declare Dimitris Lignadis guilty or innocent.

What the prosecutor will develop in court concerns not only the accused but also the alleged victims who rushed to Justice and talked about what they claim to have suffered from a man who, according to their own words, admired and expected his support in order to escape from the unfavorable living conditions they lived then.

Until the beginning of the trial, Dimitris Lignadis read several prosecutorial proposals, for the requests for the removal of his temporary detention that were rejected but also for his referral to trial, which did not differ at all from what was recorded in the arrest warrant and the warrant issued for his pre-trial detention after his apology. “This is a dangerous person, with passions and obsessions, full of strong anti-social feelings” as now mentioned in the case file.

Today, Mr. Kountrias will express his own conviction as to whether this position of his colleagues for Dimitris Lignadis is his own record or whether he believes that the actor should be judged differently.

During the 57-year-old defendant’s apology, the prosecutor asked the artist to explain to him, to give his own version of “why” these people accuse him of extreme sexual violence. “What profit do they have?” asked the prosecutor, as did the president earlier.

After 9.30 this morning, Mr. Kountrias will develop the legal part of the acts against Dimitris Lignadis and then will give his own answers to what is described in the indictment and what the accused is opposed to all this. He will evaluate every alleged act and every person and condition in order to finally give his own answer to the case.

The baton after the prosecutor will be taken by the lawyers of one side and the other with their speeches.

The court decision, except for the unexpected, is expected on mid-July.
