What does the medical examiners’ conclusion say about the death of Malena and Iris

The death of the two children of the Daskalaki family in Patras is due to suffocation, as noted in finding of medical examiners Nikos Karakoukis and Nikos Kalogrias, who conducted the new forensic examinations for the 3.5 year Malena and her just six months old Iris.

Their finding was handed over 10 days ago to the Security Homicide Prosecution Department, notes Kathimerini

As it is emphasized in the conclusion, the two medical examiners conclude with scientific certainty for both cases “the demonstration of the suffocating mechanism by blocking the outer openings of the airways as a cause of death”.

It is also noted in the conclusion that “the above-mentioned obstruction has all the elements of strong pressure on the outer openings of the airways and, therefore, excludes the accidental character and instead confirms the mechanism of death / homicide by criminal action”.

In both cases, as stated in the report, mild, non-fatal facial injuries are described:

In the case of Malena “two abrasions in the rizorinio with oblique / diagonal direction and an impression on the right cheek”, while in the case of Iris “live injuries of the oral mucosa / upper lip of the left mouth and possibly abrasions in the left nostril”.

In both cases, according to the medical examiners, neither the necropsy / necropsy examination, nor the thorough laboratory examination found a pathological cause of death. The pathological causes of death set in the first year were not confirmed and therefore the pathological cause of death in both cases was ruled out.

In addition, in neither case did the toxicological examination reveal the presence of a drug or poison causally related to death. As emphasized in the conclusion, the combined exclusion of pathological causes of death, leads – based on the working methodology – to the violent mechanism of death, with the diagnostic approach – given the exclusion of mechanical, electrical or other factor, as well as poisoning – to be directed to the suffocating mechanism .

A call for an unlawful testimony was made yesterday by a team from the Homicide Department of the Attica Security Directorate in Roula Pispirigou, in Korydallos prison, regarding the deaths of her children, Iris and Malena.

Roula Pispirigou, who is in pre-trial detention for the murder of the family’s eldest child, nine-year-old Georgina, is going to give explanations, either by memorandum or in person, about the deaths of the other two children.

The Pispirigou case, which has shocked the nation, began to be investigated at the beginning of this year, when the third child of the family ended up.
