The last goodbye to Ilias Nikolakopoulos at the First Cemetery

Elias Nikolakopoulos passed away at the age of 75, after a stroke he suffered while swimming at Achladi beach in Syros.

With a warm applause dozens of citizens said goodbye to the political scientist Ilias Nikolakopoulos in the First Cemetery of Athens. His students, his colleagues from the University of Athens and polls – although he himself hated being called a “pollster” – people of Art (Yiannis Psychopaidis was only one of them), his collaborators and fellow travelers in life and science, politicians and ordinary citizens, since Ilias Nikolakopoulos for four decades, “entered” every Greek house on the night of the elections, everyone was there for a last greeting to Ilias Nikolakopoulos, although, as was pointed out at the funeral, with his work and personality , the deceased will continue to be present.

The funeral rites were delivered by the leader of the official opposition Alexis Tsipras, the Deputy Minister of Digital Governance (and his former colleague) Theodore Livanios, the sociologist and academic Konstantinos Tsoukalas, the emeritus professor of Psychiatry, Dimitris Plombidis, the director of the Archives of Contemporary Social History, Kostas Karpozilos and the Doctor of Political Science, Panagiotis Koustenis.

Also present were the former President of the Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos, the Minister of Citizen Protection Panagiotis Theodorikakos, the Vice-President of the Parliament Dimitris Vitsas, the former President of the Parliament, Nikos Voutsis and others.

Wreaths were sent by, among others, the president of PASOK Nikos Androulakis, the Department of Political Science and Public Administration of EKPA, Ipsos – Opinion, the newspaper “Avgi” and the radio station “Sto Kokkino” of which he was a partner, the publications “Themelio” , the Poulantza Institute.
