“The Canal will be opened with absolute safety for the next 3 months, in order to serve the summer traffic,” the government representative emphasized.
The government representative, Yiannis Oikonomou, refers to the reopening of the Corinth Canal from today – and for three months – with his post on Twitter.
“The first phase of the interventions in the Corinth Canal has been completed according to plan, after the major collapses and from today, the Canal will be opened with absolute safety for the next 3 months, in order to serve the summer traffic”, he points out in his tweet.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had the opportunity to verify the progress of the works during his visit to the Canal, pointing out that this is a very important intervention, in a symbolic project completely identified with the modernization of Greece. In fact, he emphasized the need to highlight this unique landmark with any other interventions needed, in combination with highlighting the rich archaeological wealth of the wider region. Restoration work will restart in early October and be completed within ’23.
