Arrest of the owner of an online store for attempted bribery of DIMEA officials

The owner of an online store in the center of Athens was arrested for attempting to bribe officials of the Interagency Market Control Unit (DIMEA) while during the control approximately 1,600 pieces of counterfeit mobile phone accessories were destroyed and a fine of 7,000 euros was imposed.

In more detail, as stated in the announcement of the Ministry of Development and Investments:

The Interagency Market Control Unit (DIMEA) informs that today, Friday, July 8, DIMEA officials carried out checks at the physical headquarters of an online store selling mobile phone accessories, in the center of Athens.

Around 1,600 counterfeit mobile phone accessories were detected, seized and destroyed, and a total fine of €7,000 was imposed.

During the control, the owner tried to bribe with the amount of 1,500 euros. the head of the Directorate of Data Analysis, Statistical Processing and E-Commerce supervision and auditors of the said Directorate, subject to the annulment of the audit.

The head of the control unit immediately informed the police officer accompanying the unit, as a result of which the owner was taken to the Omonia Security Department on charges of financing public officials and forgery of intellectual property products
