Bad weather in Thessaloniki: Trees and PPC poles fell – Trilofos without electricity

A sudden downpour “drowned” Thessaloniki yesterdaywith strong winds, storms and a noticeable drop in temperature, while only summer does not resemble the weather scene today, since the temperature dropped to 18 degrees Celsius.

Yesterday the bad weather caused many problems in Central Macedonia and especially in Thessaloniki, Kilkis and Pella. In detail, the Fire Department’s call center received the last 24 hours 380 calls for water pumping, release and cutting of trees in Central Macedoniaof which 165 in Thessaloniki, 110 in Kilkis and 105 in Pella.

At this time there is light rain, while the problems caused by yesterday have not been fixed. Specifically as you can see in the GRTimes photos on the streets in the city center they remain flooded wells, fallen branches from treeswhile the roads are quite slippery.

They were recorded yesterday intense flooding on roads in eastern Thessaloniki, while a driver was trapped in his vehicle on Voulgari Street, where he was freed with the help of other drivers. At the same time, they were also recorded tree falls in the area of ​​Kavtatzoglio and Eleftherias square.

Areas of Thermi, especially Trilofos, have been without electricity since the evening hours yesterday (8/7), as PPC pillars have fallen from strong winds.
According to DEDDIE, the power outage in Trilofos is due to two PPC poles that fell due to weather and are in a difficult place.

All DEDDIE crews have been at the damage sites since last night and have repaired the problem in Plagiari, while power has gradually started to return to Trilofos as well.

The operator’s estimates are that by noon the electricity problem will have been restored everywhere.
