Head of GEETHA: Constantinos Floros’s contacts in the USA

At the Pentagon he met with the Chief of the US Army General Staff, General James McConville.

A series of contacts with Pentagon officials, State Department officials, officials of the Greek-American community and representatives of International Relations Institutes comprise the program of the visit to the USA by head of GEETHA, Konstantinos Floros.

The GEETHA chief’s program began in Washington, where he held a meeting at the Pentagon with US Army Chief of Staff General James McConville. The two sides discussed defense and security issues in relation to the situation in Ukraine, the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean, as well as the deepening of Greece-US Military Cooperation both at the level of the Army and more broadly within the framework of the ratified Mutual Defense Cooperation Agreement (MDCA).

Earlier, he had met with her Ambassador of Greece in Washington, Alexandra Papadopoulou, with which they discussed matters of mutual interest, placing particular emphasis on the bilateral relations between Greece and the USA. Afterwards, he visited the Military Mission of the Embassy and met with the staff serving in it, whom he congratulated for their efforts and efficiency.

The rest of Monday’s program was mainly devoted to contacts with expatriate organizations, as Mr. Floros met with H.E. president of the AHEPA organization, Jimmy Kokota, and the executive director, Vassilis Mosaidis, whom he congratulated for their activity in the context of promoting Greek-American relations and Greek principles and values. Afterwards, he met with the representatives of the “OXI Day Foundation”, Andy and Mike Manato, with whom he discussed the Foundation’s activities and their future perspective. In addition, the head of GEETHA visited the headquarters of the American Hellenic Institute (AHI), where he had the opportunity to exchange views with President Nick Laryngakis and the members of the Board of Directors regarding matters of defense cooperation between Greece and the USA, as well as regarding the actions of the Institute and the ways of their support by the GRETHA.

Finally, Mr. Floros met with the president and representatives of the think tank Jewish Institute for National Security of America (JINSA), with whom he discussed issues related to the defense and security of the Euro-Atlantic area, the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East.
