Regarding the “Centaur” variant, he explained that it does not yet appear to be creating an outbreak, but scientists are monitoring its spread.

In the first estimates of the experts on her appearance “Centaur” variant of the coronavirus which has been identified in India and the United Kingdom, the epidemiology professor said Gikas Mallorca on SKAI TV and the show “Mismatches”.

As he said, for now, there is no outbreak or “wave” of this particular mutation even though it is spreading. In any case, experts are monitoring the course of the “Centaur”

“This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of variants spreading and not creating a particular outbreak, so for now we’re just watching it spread.”the professor emphasized.

Because Omicron’s 04 -05 mutations may lead to stronger immunity

Regarding the Omicron mutations currently prevailing in our country, Mr. Majorkinis emphasized that they cause fever and exhaustion, but do not create particular problems in the patient’s respiratory system. He explained that fever and exhaustion are signs of an immune response and may lead to stronger immunity.

“That’s something that maybe has a positive element as well, because these are immunity-building elements. When we have both fever and exhaustion, it means that our immune system is reacting. So there is a possibility that we will have stronger immunity from this variant than from previous 01 – 02.”

He urged patients to drink plenty of fluids, treat fever with antipyretics and be patient for a day or two, as symptoms usually subside after that.

Multiple daily cases of coronavirus

Regarding the increased number of cases, the professor emphasized that there is an underestimation and it may be two or three times higher than the official ones.

He also emphasized that at this stage the number of cases is not so important but the serious incidents. In the country’s hospitals there is an increased flow, but patients do not have oxygen problems and after a few days they are discharged. “It creates a pressure on hospitals, but a different pressure that is manageable,” he pointed out.
