Born in Siatista in 1930The Nikolaos Papageorgiou he had a difficult childhood. His father, George, was a victim of the German Occupation and his loss forced him and his other two younger brothers, the late Leonidas and Apostolos, to engage in the fur trade immediately after graduating from the historic Trabantzeio High School of Shiatista.

Working tirelessly, with effort and a lot of perseverance, he became one of the country’s most important business factors in the fur industry. Apart from his business activity, however, he was distinguished for his selfless contribution to his fellow man. Together with his brother Leonidas, they established the “Papageorgiou Foundation” and with their significant donation, the Papageorgiou Hospital was built. Nikolaos Papageorgiou was President from the beginning of its operation until April 2009 as well as a member of the Board of Directors. of the Hospital, while until today he was the president of the “Papageorgiou Foundation”.

He was recognized by the Greek state as a great national benefactor and was honored with many distinctions and titles, with the highest being the award of the office of lord actuary by the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
