Agia Marina was honored again this year by His Beatitude Archbishop of Athens and all Greece Mr. Ieronymos, visiting the island of Ampelo in the Gulf of Corinth. His Beatitude made his annual pilgrimage to the monastic seat of Agia Marina, an independent monastery of Saint Lukewhich he himself revived in the 80s and takes care of to this day.

THE Ampelos island was a place of asceticism of Saint Luke for about three years, from 942 to 945 AD, before the Saint settled and founded the monastery in Steiri Boeotia.

His Beatitude was accompanied by the Director of the European Liaison Office of the First Archdiocese of Athens, Father Apostolos Kavaliotis. The Solemn Divine Liturgy was celebrated by the Dean of the Holy Monastery of Saint Loukas, Fr. Seraphim Pavlidis, with the Hierodeacon, Fr. Charalambos Tsokas.
