Ierapetra: They cheated elderly people – They were looking for a relative in the hospital

There seems to be no end to the fraud attempts in her area as well Ierapetra by various astute men who try in every way to extort money from local residents. On Monday morning, at least three incidents occurred, one of which had an episodic outcome at the Ierapetra Hospital.

It all started, as it says radiolasithi.gr, with a phone call to an elderly woman in the area to whom the strangers introduced themselves as doctors from the Ierapetra Hospital, informed that a very close relative of hers had been injured and was in the operating room, and they were immediately requesting the deposit of money into a bank account in order for the operation to proceed . In the phone call, the perpetrators were so pressing that they went so far as to say that if the statement is not made quickly, the injured person’s leg will be amputated.

No money was deposited, but the woman and her relatives immediately went to the Hospital asking to see their relative and find out what his condition was, resulting in great confusion that resulted in tension and arguments between the involved relatives and staff since of course in Hospital there was no one injured.

Finally the incident was reported to the AT Ierapetra and there it became known that two other similar incidents were reported today.
