The well-known protagonist of the old cinema passed away 20 days ago, but the news of her death has now become known through posts on social media by the playwright Maro Bourdakou and the president of the Greek Actors’ Union, Spyros Bibila.
“It became known that 20 days ago the old beloved great actress Voula Charilaou passed away without her family making it known even to SEH”, wrote Maro Bourdakou. on Facebook.
With his own post from his profile, Spyros Bibilas stated that: “This crystal wonderful creature that I luckily met and loved has left. Voula Harilaou. No one has notified us in two weeks. Voula, the Vivian Lee of Greece as she was typically called, lived with her memories and admired all the young people she only watched on TV. She had a wonderful voice, a sensitive creature who loved and was loved very much. I will always have her in my heart.”
Voula Harilaou was born in Athens in 1932 and studied at the Kostis Michaelides Drama School for one year, piano at the Athens Conservatory, singing at the National Conservatory. He obtained an acting license as an exceptional talent.
In 1961 in the film “Nightmare”, the best psychological thriller noir horror based on the detective novel by Yiannis Maris and directed by Errikos Andreou, Voula Harilaou in the lead role of Anna Margo had played by far the best role of her career in an acting recital .
