A Casa do Porco: Learn how to eat at the 7th best restaurant in the world

For the third time, the restaurant A Casa do Porco is among the 50 best in the world, according to the 50 Best, considered the Oscar of world gastronomy.

This time, the address led by the couple Jefferson and Janaína Rueda in the central region of São Paulo reached seventh place, up ten positions compared to last year. In 2019, when it made its debut on the list, it ranked 39th.

The announcement was made this Monday, the 18th, in London, at an event that celebrates the 20th anniversary of the first award, organized by the publisher William Reed Business Media and prepared by more than a thousand collaborators and experts in the gastronomic sector.

This year’s list features another Brazilian restaurant among the 50 best in the world: Oteque, run by chef Alberto Landgraf in Rio de Janeiro, made its debut and ranked 47th.

In São Paulo, one of the suggestions to get to know the cuisine of A Casa do Porco is to try its tasting menu, which costs R$ 220 per person. Called Da Roça para o Centro, the option is made up of house classics, such as the double chin sushi with tucupi and the pancetta crackling with guava.

Other stages include cured sausages, steak tartar over sweet potato tempura and terrine of knee, liver and morcilla, in addition to novelties, such as cassava with pork icing and tucupi ice cream.

Another tip is to try the San Zé pork (R$84), roasted on the barbecue for six to eight hours and served with rice, cabbage salad, onion farofa, bean tutu and banana tartar. The menu also includes sausages, pasta, salads and sandwiches.

For those who prefer to stay at home, you can order for delivery, on the iFood app. In it, the CPF do Centro (R$ 82) offers breaded steak, double chin sushi, white rice, potato salad, leaf salad, fermented radish and curd and is one of the most requested options.
