As Mr. Baker pointed out, there are scattered foci throughout the red perimeter, and active fronts where the red lines are visible: in Gerakas, in Pallini, in Anthousa in Dioni, as well as on both sides of Marathonos Avenue. Great efforts are being made to protect all urban fabric located within the perimeter of the fire.
They do business 485 firefighters with 28 teams on foot and 120 vehicles. The Romanian firefighters also remain in the field. “It was a difficult night in the Penteli fire. The wind speed, as recorded in the area, reached its maximum values, well exceeding 80 km per hour.
The overnight battle was fought by all Civil Protection forces in extremely adverse conditions at all levels. Due to the intensity and speed of the winds, the fire constantly changed direction throughout the night, which made it even more difficult to fight it, in the middle of the night.
The first priority, in these adverse conditions, was and remains the safeguarding of human life. And of course the protection of critical public infrastructures of vital importance as well as the private property of citizens.
