Thessaloniki: Positives in the coronavirus “break” the quarantine – Intense health concerns

by

The phenomenon of “circulating while I am positive for the coronavirus” in Thessaloniki is taking on alarming proportions, with the provincial areas holding the lead due to the limited police checks. The professor of Pulmonology and Infectious Diseases of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Ioannis Kioumis, speaking at ThessToday.gr, the bell is ringing to aggravate the epidemiological situation by those who still do not comply with health measures and do not limit themselves.

The shocked society watches one tragic story after another with the negative protagonist the coronavirus and realizes that the National Health System is experiencing a complete collapse from the suffocating pressure it receives – mainly from the unvaccinated. And despite the pressures of the political leadership, but also of the scientists, a large percentage of our fellow citizens still “turn their backs” on the vaccine, in life. However, it is easy to see that the dogmatic negatives of the coronavirus are found in small societies. That is, where most of them remain as “common secrets” and the logic of interpersonal relationship prevails, from the way the local government works, to the work offered by the police forces to deal with the pandemic.

Kioumis: “There has always been this behavior of some in small societies”

Ioannis Kioumis explains to ThessToday.gr that this phenomenon causes a “headache” to the health authorities, as he claims that the specific attitude of some in small societies may be observed from the beginning of the pandemic.

“There has always been this behavior of some in small communities, because you know in these local communities they are not afraid of anything at all, because even the police forces – who are there – are people who know each other and are not going to arrest them. “The logic of ‘come on mom, what happened?’

“In the big cities, things are a little more impersonal and the police can check you at any time and if you are a criminal you will suffer the consequences. In small places, interpersonal relationships apply. “I know this information from the first moment and from doctor friends who convey these things to me”, he noted.

“Incidents of hospital raids should not be tolerated by the state”

At the same time, according to the professor of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the recent alleged attacks of negroes in hospitals should not be tolerated by the state, while he characterized the incidents as “tragic”. “The negatives propagandize the people not to go to hospitals, not to receive treatment, not to be intubated, etc. These should not be tolerated by the state, they are tragic situations. “As long as they remain tolerable, such problems will be created”, said Mr. Kioumis.

He added: “A patient who has a serious health problem from the infection must be treated in time. Then there are better conditions to survive. “When it gets to ‘para five’ at the hospital and ‘and five’ to the ICU – either because it has arrived late at the hospital, or because the units have reached a dead end from the fullness they have – then things get bad.”

Optimistic estimate for the next two weeks

At the same time, the professor of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki leaves a “window” of optimism for the evolution of the pandemic in the next two weeks, pointing out that in 15 days the downward trend in cases will begin. However, as he points out, the pressure on ICUs will remain increasing. “In 15 days the downward trend in cases will have started, but nevertheless the Health System and the ICU will be suffocatingly pressured and will reach a dead end – which I think they have reached even now,” said Mr. Kioumis, estimating that the general lockdown is not a solution to stop the spread of coronavirus.

“The lockdown failed the first time and now it will fail miserably. I have always been against this view. “What needs to be done is to respectfully, consistently and consistently adhere to the existing measures, which will pay off over time,” he said, adding that “some stronger measures may be needed locally in areas where the situation has been resolved.” “But if we follow the existing measures, then things can be controlled.”
