The vaccination program of the country is constantly increasing speeds, approaching 100,000 vaccinations per day, ie at the levels of March and April, as stated the Deputy Minister of Digital Government, George Georgantas to SKAI and the show “Unmatched”.

According to the Undersecretary, the vaccination rate with the first dose reaches 79.2% in the adult population and 67% in the general population, ie 2 points below the European average.

Regarding the third dose, he pointed out that at the age of over 60, where there is a big problem, the unvaccinated from about 590,000 were reduced to 546,000. “And we see a very good flow in the booster dose as well, as of the approximately 3.2 million who are the beneficiaries of the third installment, 65% have either been vaccinated or had scheduled their appointment,” he said.

In this context, he said that other vaccination centers are opening, reaching about 2,300 from the 1,500 that existed before, their hours are being extended and from December they will be open on Sundays as well.

Asked about the duration of the vaccination certificate, Mr. Georgantas explained that at the moment the Commission is discussing the validity of the European certificate for travel between countries and has set the first limit of 9 months. However, each country has the potential to have internal restrictive measures. “In Greece, what will take effect after December 13 is that after 7 months, those over 60 will not have access to indoor spaces unless they have taken the third installment,” he said.

Finally, commenting on the Omicron mutation, he stressed that the government is waiting for the data from the scientific community so that if necessary it can adjust its measures.

“The process of dealing with the pandemic is dynamic, but the measures we took a while ago are paying off. At the moment, the health system is strengthened and at the same time we see that we have a large increase in vaccinations. “There is no case for a general lockdown,” he concluded.
