The effort of the firefighting forces to stop the large fire which for the third day has destroyed thousands of acres of the National Park has been concentrated in the area of the village of Dadia
An order for the organized evacuation of the residents of Dadia was given shortly before midnight, due to a rekindling of the fire front.
The preventive evacuation was decided after the meeting of the Coordinating body.

“The most important thing for us is the safety of the residents, of the village, and all forces will be thrown there,” Evros deputy governor Dimitris Petrovich tells APE-MPE.
According to him, despite the ceaseless efforts of the firefighting forces, the continuous changes in the direction of the winds are creating flare-ups and increasing the number of fire fronts which amount to five, three large and two smaller, creating a suffocating atmosphere.
The fire has already surpassed the predators’ observatory and is approaching the buildings of the Protected Area Management Unit.
320 firefighters with 13 groups of infantry departments and 68 vehicles will operate throughout the night, while periodically 10 aircraft and 7 helicopters will operate. Support is provided by volunteer firefighters, volunteer Civil Protection groups, project machinery and pedestrian sections of the E.S., the Forestry Service and local water bodies. All the Fire Services of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace have been put on general alert.
