A huge walrus is wreaking havoc in harbors by dragging its massive body onto moored boats amid calls for it to be removed, the Mirror reports.

The 1,500kg mammal was first spotted in the Norwegian town of Kragerø, before moving to an area near Oslo.

Residents were so fascinated by the visit of the giant visitor that they rushed to take pictures and videos and even gave it a name: ‘Freya’.

However, after two months of roaming the waters, eating fish and allegedly even killing a swan, the townspeople decided it was time for the walrus to move. Seahorse expert Rune Aae told Norwegian News Agency NTB that the animal was likely distressed.

He has no peace. It needs to relax for up to 20 hours. When he is constantly stressed by people and their presence, it does him no good“, he said.

The Atlantic walrus (Odobenus rosmarus) is the gentle giant of the Arctic. Walruses have wrinkled, brown and pink colored skin, flat fins and lots of fat on their bodies to keep them warm in the cold Arctic waters. Adult walruses weigh from 600 to 1,500 kg and can reach up to 3.2 meters in length. They have long tusks and whiskers with sensitive sensors. They do not move quickly on land, but they are fast in water (up to 35 km per hour).
