The operation continues with the assistance of aerial means and reinforcement of ground firefighting forces extinguishing fires which occurred in the morning in the areas of Kassandra and Sithonia Halkidiki.
Firefighters’ efforts are focused on its ridge Kassandrinounear the area Mola Kalyva, in the “Zaiti” location, where a pine forest is burning. At the scene, in addition to ground firefighting forces, two helicopters and two aircraft operatewhile residential areas are not threatened.
A better picture is presented by the fires that occurred in the Karvounas area, in N. Marmara Sithonia, but also in Fourka, in Kassandra. All three fires are believed to have been caused by lightning strikes.
In the meantime, the operation to extinguish the fire that broke out in a ravine in a mountainous area of the Meniidos municipal unit, in Pella, continues, burning areas with bushes. A firefighting helicopter is also operating at the scene.
