The aerial battle to extinguish the forest fire in Evros is shocking.

In a video posted by the Deputy Governor P.E. Evros Dimitris Petrovich, shows the moment three Erickson-type helicopters successively, one after the other, fly over the Provatona dam and take on water, while the fire appears to continue to rage. The pilots are recorded taking water from the dam seconds apart and returning to the battle to end the fire that has been burning for days in the only forest.

Powerful firefighting forces are fighting the flames to contain the fire fronts and save the forest, but the conditions in the area are very difficult.

About 15,000 acres were burned in Dadia, the deputy governor of Evros, Dimitris Petrovich, told SKAI earlier.

“We are focusing on the fire zones especially near the village of Dadia which was evacuated yesterday” he emphasized, while clarifying that this is a virgin forest with special relief and great difficulty of access.

Early in the morning when the government echelon under the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Christos Stylianidis arrived in the area. There was a quick update on the situation and then the operatives went to the Mobile Operations Center “Olympus” to proceed with the operational planning.
