Tones rose when Ioannis Lagos wanted to take a position on matters of the process, referring to “political prosecution” against him.

The third meeting of the Five-Member Criminal Appeals Court ended with tension judges the Golden Dawn.

Tones rose when Ioannis Lagos wanted to take a position on matters of the process, referring to “political prosecution” against him. The imprisoned MEP said that he was not allowed to make a speech and vote as an MEP, a matter on which he was interrupted by the president who pointed out that the matter was not related to the present proceedings. Mr. Lagos reacted strongly saying:

“You who evangelize the Left, are we talking about democracy here?”

In order to relieve the tension that seemed to be escalating, the seat left while friends and supporters of the MEP began to applaud the defendant who, being taken to the detention cells, shouted: “We will spoil your court! Lamoya!”.

The incident was intervened by Magda Fyssa and other citizens who were on the opposite side of the hall who shouted to the prisoners: “To your holes! In your holes! You’re done!”.

Followed by the response of the supporters of Lagu: “Now we start! Psofo, pigs!’

Shortly before the end of the session and the president’s wish for a “good summer”, the court stopped the criminal prosecution of the misdemeanors faced by several defendants, alongside the more serious acts, due to the statute of limitations, while rejecting the requests for suspension of execution of the sentence submitted by others two defendants.
