A large spiral of trafficking in contraband cigarettes was dismantled – (video and photos)

A criminal organization was dismantled by the Kilkis Security Department, whose members were active in the trafficking of contraband tobacco products in Greek territory, reports the Thestival.gr.

For the case, 4 Greek men were arrested and a case file was filed against them for the – as the case may be – offenses of criminal organization, forgery, violence against employees, as well as violations of the National Customs Code, while the filed case file also includes a local man, who is wanted to be arrested.

To achieve their goal, they used storage areas in areas of Thessaloniki, Attica, Boeotia and Aitoloakarnania. The trafficking of contraband tobacco products was carried out mainly from areas of Attica – Boeotia – Aitoloakarnania to the area of ​​Thessaloniki with trucks, which carried fake license plates or license plates that corresponded to other vehicles.

They also used vehicles as escorts, in order to avoid any police checks, when transporting the contraband tobacco products.

The deconstruction of the criminal organization took place in a coordinated police operation yesterday, Monday, July 25, 2022, during which the 4 members of the organization were located in a storage area they used in an area of ​​Viotia.

In fact, one of the above, who was riding as a driver in a vehicle outside the warehouse, at the moment when the police informed him of their status, drove the vehicle towards the police, resulting in the injury of a police officer, who was taken to a hospital in area and after providing medical care, left.

From the searches carried out in the storage areas they used, a total of the following were found and confiscated:
• 15,537,560 contraband cigarettes (ie 776,878 contraband packs of cigarettes),
• 6 tons and 946 kg of smuggled processed tobacco,
• 4,140 liters of nicotine oils and
• a number of raw materials for the manufacture of contraband cigarettes (glues, filters, sheets of paper, wrapping paper, packaging gelatins, branded tapes).

Also confiscated were:
• 9 trailer trucks,
• 5 VAN type semi-trucks,
• 2 I.X.E. vehicles,
• 7 pallet trucks,
• 1 clerk and 2 carts,
• 1 recording machine and
• 2 GPS tracking devices.

3 mobile phones and the sum of 1,235 euros were found and confiscated in the possession of those arrested.

The confiscated contraband tobacco products will be sent to the competent Customs for the determination of the missing taxes and duties, which according to a first estimate exceed 3 million euros.

The arrested persons, with the case filed against them, were taken to the Prosecutor of Primary Thebes, who referred them to the Investigator of Thebes.
