It is noted that currently available data indicate that the fire in Dadia Evros has developed an induction column and has become “self-guided”. Estimates for the image of the fire front in the next hours
Unstable are considered atmospheric conditions that prevail in the wider area where the fire front is raging in Nanny of Evros.
The above is summarized by the FLAME pyrometeorological team of the National Observatory of Athens (EAA) / meteo.gr, regarding the forest fire that occurred and is active in the area
Based on the network of automatic weather stations of the EAA / meteo.gr, in the wider area where the fire is burning, in Dadia Evros, at this time (26.07.2022, 15:30) NE winds are blowing at 2-3 Beaufort, the temperature is 34-35 ËšC and the moisture content of dead forest fuel is estimated between 6-8 %.
The atmospheric conditions that prevail in the area are characterized by instability that favors the creation of “shallow” fire clouds (pyrosoreites – pyroCus).
The creation of these transitory clouds can be seen characteristically in a satellite image retrieved and processed by the pyrometeorological team earlier
Currently available evidence indicates that the Dadia fire has developed an induction plume and has become “self-propelled”.
Based on the latest available forecast data in the next hours (26.07 15:00-20:00/21:00) relatively unfavorable fire-meteorological conditions are expected to be maintained, mainly due to high temperatures, the maintenance of winds at 2-3 Beaufort ( initially from NE directions and after 17:00/18:00 from SW directions) and the low moisture content of the dead forest fuel.
Gradually from the first evening hours (26.07 21:00/22:00) until the early morning hours of Wednesday 27.07 (07:00/08:00) the winds are expected to weaken to 1-2 Beaufort from variable directions and the humidity of the dead of forest fuel will recover (to levels between 10-20 %), thereby improving overall pyrometeorological conditions.
From the morning hours of Wednesday 27.07 (08:00/09:00) a worsening of the fire-meteorological conditions is expected again as high temperatures are expected, a drop in the humidity of the dead forest fuel (6-8 %) and strengthening of the winds to 2-3 Beaufort from NE general addresses.
At the same time, in the midday hours of Wednesday 27.07, conditions favorable for the development of an induction column and the formation of fire clouds are expected to prevail again, if the fire continues to burn intensely.
The FLAME pyrometeorological team of the National Observatory of Athens/meteo.gr continues to monitor the situation as it develops and will come back with a newer announcement regarding the evolution of the pyrometeorological conditions in the next few hours.
