As it became known, a second helicopter was following, in which the parents of a friend of Jack Fenton were on board, and not his parents, as originally written.
The parents of the young Englishman who lost his life in Spata, dismembered by the propeller of the helicopter that had just transported him from Mykonos to Athens, are devastated.
The youngster Jack Fenton he was returning to Athens by helicopter, in which three more of his friends were also on board.
As it became known, he was being followed by a second helicopter in which his friend’s parents were on board Jack Fentonand not his parents, as originally written.
However after the horrible accident there was an agreement between the pilots for the second helicopter to land at “Eleftherios Venizelos”, so that they would not be confronted with the shocking sight.
Jack’s mother Victoria, speaking from her home in Tonbridge, Kent, told MailOnline the family were “absolutely devastated” by the loss of their “lovely boy”, who was a boarding student at Sutton Valence, Maidstone.
“We only found out what happened at 10 last night. We are completely devastated. It was the most wonderful boy. I think the pilot is in custody, but it looks like it was the most horrific crash. “Jack had traveled to Greece with some of his friends, who celebrated their birthdays there,” his mother said.
She, in fact, overturns the information that spoke of the presence of Jack’s father in Greece and that he was in the second helicopter, which followed the one involved in the tragic accident.
As Victoria points out, “the family has stayed in Kent. We didn’t go to Greece. Only the father of a friend of his was with them.”
“Jack and his friends had taken a helicopter from Athens to Mykonos without any problems and they did the same on the way back, they took a helicopter from Mykonos to Athens. He had landed safely when he landed in Athens, but for some reason he came back and went behind the helicopter and it was the rear propeller that killed him. It was instantaneous,” says the mother of the deceased youth.
He notes, finally, that the friends were indeed out partying the night before, “but he hadn’t had anything to drink all day yesterday, except water. He and his friends were all sober.”
Earlier, the Daily Mail presented a new version of the tragic death of 21-year-old Jack Fenton from a helicopter propeller yesterday, in the accident at the helipad of the Lolos estate, in Spata.
According to the British newspaper, Greek investigators claim that the young man may have run towards the helicopter, despite warnings to stop, to take a selfie.
However, one of the three friends of the unlucky young man refuted this claim, speaking to Mail Online: “There were no instructions given when exiting the helicopter and no one escorted us into the lounge. All they did was open the doors for us. We disembarked alone and no one stopped Jack from going to the back of the helicopter. None of us made it to the living room before the accident happened.
I’ve heard people say that Jack was on his phone and ran back to the helicopter and that’s completely untrue. He wasn’t on his phone and I don’t know why he turned towards the back of the helicopter,” noted Jack Stanton-Gleaves.
Prosecutor’s investigation
Meanwhile, a preliminary investigation was ordered into the circumstances under which the tragic helicopter accident occurred in Spata. All that is certain is that the young man approached the back of the helicopter, while the propellers were working, and hit the back of the head. The blow was fatal and the unfortunate Briton died on the spot.
